Making Your Home
In a Lowcountry Neighborhood

Choosing a house in an area which satisfies your family's needs is an essential first step in making your home in a South Carolina Lowcountry neighborhood.

This desirable area offers home buyers extensive diversity through our many communities.  You may want to live in a newer neighborhood setting with gracious amenities available to property owners.  You may seek a home in a peaceful rural setting.  You may choose to make your home in one of the historic districts, on the water, or in an established development.  The SC Lowcountry offers these neighborhoods and plenty of others from which you may choose.

Browse through this basic information I've provided about choosing a Lowcountry neighborhood that fits the needs of your family.  I've included a check list at the very bottom of this page which suggests specific things to consider when choosing a neighborhood - you may have others to add to this list.  Communicate with me directly by calling (843 261-7173) or by email( john.wilder@agentowned.com ) or use the form below.  I will discuss with you any specific questions you have about our Lowcountry communities and neighborhoods.

Whether you seek to sell a property or to make a purchase, you may feel confident that I will serve you well in either endeavor.  From my 30+ years of experience in local real estate, I have gathered an extensive knowledge base about property in the SC Lowcountry.  I will assist you to make the best transaction possible for your family.

Choosing a neighborhood
to fit your needs.

1. Make a list of all of the amenities that are close by in the neighborhood you are considering as your new residence.  Keep in mind what distances and routes to each of these places are acceptable and what are not.

2.  Walk around in the neighborhood.  The best way to determine the friendliness and cleanliness of the neighborhood is to walk around in it and meet its residents.

3.  Determine what the best features of the neighborhoods are.  This is especially helpful if you are deciding between a few different neighborhoods.

Are there parks nearby?
Is it visually appealing?
Are there quiet areas, streets, culs de sac?
Are the people friendly in the neighborhood?
Are there nice trees and foliage?
Do the lots have large or small yards?
Are there walkways and are they easily accessible?
Is it a safe neighborhood?
What are the market values of the homes in the area?
Are there many houses for sale?
How long ago was the community developed?

What is the average age of the people in the area
Are there families with small children?
What is the proximity to schools?
Are there places of worship close by?

Are there community events scheduled?
What community organizations are there?
How close is the ocean for taking a stroll at sunset?
